editing

The video below is of us editing-

During the editing we had to do all the basic things such as cuts with the razor tool, moving things around, placing things above each other such as cutaways, but we also had to do more technical processes. We had to speed up certain clips, reverse others, zoom in slightly on some, and make it all fit exactly 5:00. The editing was quite easy once I got used to it, but it did take quite a bit of getting used to it. Some bits got chopped in the wrong place so we had to undo and do it again as it was tricky to get precisely the right part.
Another part of editing was changing the sound levels, I found this quite hard so i mainly focused on the visual, whilst someone else in my group did that.

Filming cutaways

Filming cutaways was probably the easiest part of filming so far. They are quick simple shots and don't need much planning, as long as they have relevance. Most of the cutaways we filmed with pans and zooms.

Filming Demis interview

We went to film an interview with a girl in our school who aspires to be a tattoo artist. She has already done tattoos on her self and her friends but one day wants to become professional. We chose to interview Demi for these reasons as we thought it would make for an interesting interview which it did. We asked her many questions, which she answered well. When we planned the interview we where going to have her sitting infrount of canvas's in an Art class room, but when we got there she had some of her own work set up, which we sat her in front of instead. We also filmed he tattoo equipment, including the needles and inks, and she explained how it all works, which we will use as cut aways. Other filming we got for cutaways are her tattoos and piercings.

Filming the Tattoo artist

We went to interview a tattoo artist where we asked him questions about his career, and filmed where he worked. We also got to film the equipment he used to do the tattoos.
This is a picture of Ashleigh Filming the tattoo artist-Terry.

These are tattoos that the walls where covered in, in the tattoo shop.

These are the equipment he uses. The needles attach to these so he can do the tattoo.

These are all the inks he has.

This is the chair he does the tattoos in.

This is another piece of equipment he uses.

Whilst there, in his interview he explained what the inks are and how they are used, so we filmed them to be a cutaway in his interview.

This is Niall asking the Tattoo artist our questions.

Whilst we were filming the tattoo artist, we were trying to get the best mis-en-scene, so we had him infront of a wall of tattoo designs on the wall, as in our initial sketch we had the tattoo chair in shot, but this wasnt possible on the day. When it came to capturing the footage, we noticed a door frame in the side of the shot, that we couldnt se whilst filming juse to the view finder on the camera. Whilst editing we will have to zoom in a little bit to cut it out, but it might affect the quality to much.
